The Orchard Care Home is located in a quiet residential area of St Albans, offering residential, nursing and dementia care. As you step inside there’s clean, bright, fresh spaces, and flowers everywhere. We have comfortable lounges, an activity room, hair salon and brand-new bistro full of homemade cakes and freshly brewed coffee.

Our well-stocked arts and crafts room is the perfect space to spread out and create. We have a wonderful display of photos, drawings, and art for our residents and visitors to enjoy.

The lovely surroundings at The Orchard nursing home are matched by the standard of care our team brings residents. We love learning as much as we can about the people we care for. That means your loved one’s time at The Orchard is tailored to their individual needs, interests and preferences. This can be as small as knowing when they like to wake up, to how they like their tea, and everything in between.
We give as much independence as possible at The Orchard, giving individuals the choice as to how to run the home. If they prefer dinner in front of the TV, to clean their own rooms, or anything else, we’ll make it happen. Residents’ rooms are theirs to personalise with the things they love.
We consistently apply infection control procedures and services that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers.

Vicky Ashby Senior Wellbeing Co-OrdinatorI have been a Wellbeing Co-Ordinator for 8 years and love my job. I am also the Regional Wellbeing Ambassador for all the Homes in our Region. My passion is to enhance the daily wellbeing of each of our residents with person cantered engagement and activities.

As the Home Manager, I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible and I have the responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of the home as well as making The Orchard a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.

Fee rates are also determined by the size and aspect of the room and the duration of the stay (short stay/respite or permanent). Fees are payable monthly in advance.

At our care home in St Albans, Our Head Chef and the team have many years of cooking experience. They craft their nutritionally balanced menus using seasonal produce, and are guided by the feedback provided to them from our residents during their monthly hospitality meetings and individual care plans.
All members of our care teams are given the training and support needed to help them provide the highest standards of care.
Caring Homes has been providing care for over 29 years. Every team member receives our unique ‘Living in my World’ dementia training. This highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, as well as addressing clinical aspects of care.
Our ‘Food in my World’ training provides the hospitality team and chefs with the skills and knowledge to stimulate senses and increase creativity in the cooking and presentation of food. This can provide a much-improved dining experience for residents at the Orchard Nursing Home living with dementia and or dysphagia.
The length of time people spend in a care home varies according to their needs and preferences. The Orchard Nursing Home offers permanent care to suit your needs or perhaps a respite stay might be required during a period of convalescence after being in hospital.
