Brooklyn House Visit Norwich Cathedral
18th February 2016
Residents, relatives and staff from Brooklyn House were delighted to visit Norwich Cathedral this week.We were each handed a welcome brochure to help us understand the building as we enjoyed a tour by our guide Jean, walking around the Cathedral learning about the 900 year old history. We marvelled at the beautiful stained glass windows, high ceilings with roof boss sculptures and Romanesque architecture. The Cathedral houses one of the largest pipe organs in the country and it was a sight to behold. We all learnt about how the stone was transported from France to England and then ferried along the river Wensum to the Cathedral. The visit was accompanied by lunch in the refectory restaurant and a walk around the grounds before setting back on the bus with a trip down memory lane tour.Resident Sheila and her daughter Kay said “It has been a very enjoyable day and the ride home evoked many special family memories.”We look forward to more trips out throughout the year!
