Animal Encounters at Whittington House
10th November 2017
Residents from Whittington House in Cheltenham gathered in the lounge on Thursday 9th November 2017, when we were treated to a visit by Lauren from Wild Science with a variety of fluffy animals and reptiles. After an introduction from Lauren, our resident’s first encounter was with a small African snake ‘Cecil’.We were very impressed with all the residents and team members who were very brave and either held or touched the snake. They admired its golden colour and were shocked that he felt smooth. We were then introduced to ‘Larry’ the Leopard Gecko, who originates from Pakistan and Asia. The first mammal we saw was a small African Hedgehog called ‘Sonic’, who was passed round for stroking on laps in a towel to keep warm. Everyone commented on how his prickles were softer than they imagined. The mammal that won the vote as the favourite of the day was a large garden rabbit named ‘Thor’, who got lots of cuddles from everyone. To finish the visit Lauren went room to room so that our less mobile residents didn’t miss out with cuddles from Thor too.Do come back and check our news stories for further updates on other events and activities we hold here at our home.Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is a modern, purpose-built home and provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 66 people. If you would like to find out more about life at Whittington House, or would like to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 0808 223 5396 or [email protected].
