Annual summer BBQ at The Orchard
Residents, family and friends and the care team enjoyed our annual summer BBQ at The Orchard Nursing Home in St Albans last week.
We were really lucky as the rain held off for the day, with just a cloudy sky threatening us with rain, as we all gathered in the garden with the smell of the BBQ starting up.
St Albans Mayor Edgar Hill came to support us on the day, he stood in the garden and started the afternoon with a speech welcoming everyone to our BBQ and thanking the wellbeing team for organising the event, and continuously improving the services we offer to our residents.
Our singer for the afternoon, Gemma, began her classical music set as everyone tucked into the BBQ feast which was topped off with home made cakes and refreshments provided by our wonderful Head Chef Rod and his team.
Once Mayor Edgar Hill had finished his food, he spent time chatting with the residents and their families whilst Gemma continued her set.
We then later played games, the raffle was drawn and residents had a go on the teddy tombola. Thank you to everyone that donated to our tombola, Aylett nurseries, St Albans Market, Welwyn Luxury Beauty Salon, Hoss Photography and all the family, friends and team that also donated.
Relatives commented on how lovely it was for their loved one to be with more than two relatives, and everyone loved being able to mix together on the day. We can't wait for the next one!
