April at Mellish House
Throughout April, Caring Homes Group held a Spring art competition and the residents at Mellish House had a lot of fun making their entries. We made a whole team canvas and everyone found it amusing trying splatter are for the first time. They were a little sceptical at first and concerned about the mess it would make, but after a demonstration they got stuck in, laughing and really enjoying themselves. The outcome was quite impressive as you can see in out photos.
Local Reverend Jenny was welcomed back with a beautiful Easter service, using homemade props. The residents were fully engaged and took part singing along to the hymns. This was a great start to Easter and continued with Easter crafts, creating their own masterpieces. The Easter bunny treated the residents to a tasty theme food trolley with hot cross buns, Malteser bunnies and carrot cake.
It was great to take a trip to Hollow Trees Farm with some residents to see all the baby spring animals. Residents had a great time feeding the baby goats and enjoyed seeing all the children having fun on their school holidays.
Some live entertainment was in order to celebrate St George’s day, they had the residents up on their feet dancing together for a whole hour! The day was finished with tea and scones, a traditional English snack to celebrate the patron saint.
National banana day saw the residents baking a banana loaf, some had never made one before but it kept them very busy with all the different ingredients they had to add. They did a great job and particularly enjoyed tasting it at the end as they revelled in their hard work.
