Baking up a treat at Mellish House
At Mellish House care home in Sudbury the smell of freshly baked cakes, biscuits and savoury treats regularly fill the air as quite a few of our residents enjoy a regular baking activity.
this week at Mellish House care home as a number of the residents enjoyed an aromatic afternoon of baking.
We try to support them being involved in every aspect of the baking process. Whilst they're engaging in this they are concentrating, focused, using hand and eye co-ordination, practising fine motor skills and it also triggers lots of conversation between themselves and with staff.
A the smell of baking can help to stimulate appetites too, the finished products never last long as we all thoroughly enjoy the fruits of our labour!
