Bedtime stories at Guysfield

23rd January 2018
Guysfield Care Home in Letchworth, have introduced bed time story reading to children by the residents.Activities lead Margaret and Home Manager Pawel were looking for additional ways to stimulate residents. The residents always respond well when children come to visit the Home so they wanted to find any additional way to stimulate the residents which included interaction with children, with the hope that regular visits will have a positive impact on residents physical and emotional wellbeing.Residents, the care team and children, accompanied by parents, were invited along to the first of many of these events. Everyone doned their pajamas, to set the scene, whilst children read stories to residents who eagerly listened, and also shared snacks and engaged in conversation with them which made everyone's evening. A lot of positive emotions and smiles were created by the visit. It not only helps the residents, but also gives the children a sense of achievement and builds their confidence reading stories in the front of others.Home Manager Pawel said, "After seeing such a great success on the day number one we are aiming to make this a regular activity for our residents and the local children.”[gallery size="medium" link="file" ids="23720,23721,23722,23723,23724,23728,23726,23727,23725,23729"]Guysfield provides residential care in a beautifully converted Country House for up to 49 elderly people in the conservation village of Willian. If you would like to find out more about life at Guysfield and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5509 or [email protected]
