Benson House Care Home celebrates after receiving a ‘Good’ CQC rating
Residents and staff at Benson House Care Home are celebrating after a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection saw them receive a ‘Good’ rating in all five key areas (safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and well-led).
Caring Homes’ Benson House, a nursing, residential and dementia care home, was praised for providing “compassionate care”, with relatives commenting, "the staff are very approachable and caring" and "staff are caring, and they look after my mum well."
In the report, staff were found to “do all they could to promote independence and access to healthcare services, ensuring a holistic level of care was provided.” It was also highlighted in the inspection that staff demonstrated a “commitment to people”, and “displayed strong person-centred values”, mentioning that “staff supported people in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests”.
Priding themselves on taking the time to listen to the individuals and families of those they care for, relatives praised the staff for their attention to the ongoing care of the residents. Informing inspectors that staff support them in a personalised way with comments such as: “The staff did a care plan and information about her likes and dislikes."
Benson House registered with the CQC on the 25th of February 2021, making this the home's first formal inspection.
Caring Homes’ Benson House's home manager, Donna Boobyer, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the results of our recent and first ever CQC report. The entire team here at Benson House work extremely hard to ensure that our residents are receiving the highest quality care and continue to embrace our shared vision for continual improvement.
“The most recent CQC report illustrates Benson Houses’ dedication to providing the high standards of care and support that our residents and their families expect and deserve. It is our mission, as a team, to build on the report and work to continuously improve how we meet the needs of our residents.
“Caring Homes invests constantly in its teams to ensure that they are well trained and organise regular resident-led activities that the whole home will enjoy. It is a privilege to work amongst such a dedicated team and we are eager to see what the future holds for us.”
The luxurious Benson House stands in a leafy and private setting with delightful views of the river Thames, located in Benson near Wallingford in rural Oxfordshire but accessible to village amenities.
Significant investment in leading technology and design includes acoustic monitoring, silent call systems, and the first-to-market use of stable-style bedroom doors, combining safety along with interaction for those living well with dementia. It is also the only home in the area where all team members undergo dementia training which is accredited by City & Guilds.
