Brooklyn House Enjoy Some Monkey Business
5th February 2016
Residents and staff at Brooklyn House enjoyed an outing to Swallow Aquatics this week. As well as looking at the tropical plant displays the staff and residents enjoyed looking at hundreds of fish, there were over 100 aquariums to look at filled with tropical freshwater and marine fish with bright colours. The residents were also thrilled to see reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and even some marmoset monkeys. They also got to meet; Junior, a metre long dwarf Cayman crocodile, Twiglet, a metre long catfish and Shelley and Keats a pair of giant sulcata tortoises. The staff at the garden centre also brought some of the animals out for residents to hold and stroke, which they really enjoyed. Resident Jean said she had loved seeing so many animals, "It's like a zoo and I would love to take them all home", she exclaimed. After a good browse everyone relaxed with a cup of tea and discussed which species could possibly be introduced to Brooklyn's own aquarium.
