Brooklyn House Have A Hoot With Owls
20th January 2016
Brooklyn House residents, relatives and staff enjoyed a visit from Zootastic this week. They are a small family run mobile petting zoo run by Alison and her partner Ian.Everyone had the chance to handle the animals which ranged from snakes and reptiles to the cute and cuddly. The residents all had their favourites but the highlight of the afternoon was a close up with the owls which everyone described as beautiful and a rare opportunity. It is widely acknowledged that animals and pets can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and increase social interaction and physical activity, it is especially therapeutic for a resident if they had a pet before coming to Brooklyn House. Having animals in the home helps the residents focus on something other than the physical problems they may be having so it is important to us that Zootastic are regular visitors to Brooklyn House. The residents are looking forward to their next encounter with the creatures.
