Brooklyn House hosts annual ‘Antiques Roadshow’
The staff and residents of Brooklyn House Care Home welcomed over 50 people this week as they threw the doors open for their annual ‘Antiques Roadshow.’ including Attleborough Mayor Samantha Taylor as guest of honour.
Mayor of Attleborough, Samantha Taylor was guest of honour for the day, with Robin Dunkley of Holt Antiques and Keith Honeycombe of Honeycombe Antiques on hand to value a wide range of items including paintings, crockery, jewellery and silver pieces.
Home residents, relatives and members of the local community queued up clutching their prized possessions in the hope of the valuers discovering a ‘hidden gem’. The star item on the day actually belonged to Brooklyn House Manager Sarah Taylor, who discovered that a painting bought at a car boot sale could be worth a considerable amount of money.
Sarah told us:
‘I couldn’t believe the valuation, my Mother bought the painting a few years ago, I just brought it in to get the day going, so to get that valuation was a very pleasant surprise!
Our residents and their relatives loved seeing the expert valuers in action. It is so important to everyone at Brooklyn House that the home plays an active part in local life, so we always enjoy hosting these events.
The day was a real success and I would like to say thank you to all those who came along to support us. Due to the success of this, our second Antiques Roadshow, we are arranging a further event in October.’
Brooklyn House is a modern, purpose-built care home in Norfolk with nursing for up to 40 elderly people. The home is run by family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
