25th August 2016
The residents, relatives and care team at Brooklyn House in Attleborough, Norwich, were treated to an afternoon of movie Magic at Wymondham ex services club this week. The club laid on a special screening in the former Wymondham Regal cinema, with a raffle, a splendid buffet and the chance to reminisce after the movie.Resident Doris said “It has been lovely, I didn’t stop laughing at the film, Norman Wisdom is one of my favourites. The food was delicious. The club have worked so hard to make us feel very welcome. Can we come again?”Joan also enjoyed the afternoon with her daughter-in-law. “It was like going back in time” she remarked.”Brooklyn’s residents have been invited back again for a Christmas party which they are really looking forward to.Thank you all for laying on such a great day.Outings for the residents, are beneficial to body and mind. New scenery and also the exercise, both help the residents keep an active social life which is key to helping someone feel happy and motivated.Everyone needs a sense of purpose and to enjoy themselves during the day. Encouraging our residents to do something creative, some gentle exercise, or take part in an activity helps them to realise their potential, which improves their self-esteem and reduces loneliness.
Brooklyn House provides specialist nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 38 elderly people.
