Brooklyn House Residents Enjoy A Music-Filled Christmas Party
With the festive season in full swing and party planning reaching fever pitch, residents at Brooklyn House were eagerly anticipating their annual Christmas party – and it didn’t disappoint!
Preparation Starts Early on the Big Day
Expectations were high and the kitchen team were in early to prepare a fabulous party buffet. Head Chefs Shelly and Louise were joined team members from across the home who pitched in to make sure everything was perfect.
Meanwhile, hairdresser Amanda was in and working hard so that everyone looked their very best for the party. Invitations had been sent out back in October so that relatives, friends and neighbours from the community could save the date. The turnout was fantastic as family members, friends old and new and Pride Homecare, who partner with Brooklyn House on community events, all arrived to enjoy the event.
The Party Kicks Off with a Musical Medley
Catrina and Agnes, Brooklyn’s Wellbeing team, had booked the talented Nick Stephenson to perform an acoustic set and at 11am sharp, Nick started the party, launching into an energetic set packed with Christmas hits. ‘Last Christmas’, ‘White Christmas’ and many classics were mixed with some lively 60's 70's and 80's anthems including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rapsody’ which proved a popular singalong track.
Fabulous Food and Great Company
While everyone was rocking, the food had been brought out and presented on long tables. After Nick’s extended performance, everyone was ready to tuck in, the only problem being where to start as the buffet looked so stunning. "It looks amazing" everyone agreed, and the lunch was declared "a fantastic team effort"! Residents and guests enjoyed an incredible array of party favourites, including a stunning Italian-style platter featuring salami, tomato & mozzarella slices, olives and sun dried tomatoes; mini pizzas, smoked salmon blinis, cocktail sausages, crunchy crudites, chicken skewers, an extensive cheese and biscuit selection and more – and that’s before the sweet treats on offer.
There was a lovely, sociable atmosphere with plenty of mingling and chatting, then a natural lull after the food and socialising when everyone felt relaxed and happy - but also a little bit sleepy. By the time Catrina offered the option of some fun games, the only sound was a ripple of contented snoring – always a sign of a well-planned and enthusiastically received event!
