Brooklyn House Residents Get Into The Halloween Spirit At A Spooky Gathering
An invitation to the Halloween Party was extended by our friends at Pride Homecare in Attleborough. Their Manager, Daniel, is an ex-colleague of the team at Brooklyn House and he and his husband, Paul, who prepared the delicious party buffet, organised the event at Attleborough Town Hall.
The Town Hall is a real community hub, running several groups and events, including the Heritage Group which some of Brooklyn House’s residents attend. It provides a regular opportunity to get together, look at photographs and share memories of Attleborough through the ages.
A Sunny Day Keeps the Spirits at Bay!
When the day of the party arrived it was gloriously sunny, which made everyone smile – definitely a snag for any local vampires who had planned to attend! However, the hall was hauntingly atmospheric, with spooky lighting and decorations, and the colourful costumes worn by the team and some of the Brooklyn House staff were ‘out of this world’!
Everyone had fun singing along to some fearsome hits such as ‘Monster Mash’ and ‘Ghostbusters’. Wellbeing coordinator, Catrina, was missing the regular Thursday karaoke at Brooklyn House so performed a rendition of ‘That Old Devil Called Love’. There was singing all round and resident Mavis was dancing to everything. The group also had fun decorating wooden spoons and turning them into creepy creations.
Ghoulish Buffet and ‘Terrorific’ Desserts
Next up, the horrifically fabulous buffet. The food was delicious but creatively presented to look ghoulish – the chicken nuggets for example, which were coloured black. Some of the residents dared to try and declared them very tasty! Everyone tucked into some ‘terrorific’ desserts, then it was time for some more singing before the party wrapped up.
Residents Mavis and Pearl commented on how much fun it was and the entire Brooklyn group left feeling very full, and slightly weary from having laughed so much. Getting into the spirit of the occasion was very much the order of the day!
