Care Home Goes Back To The Future With 40s Style Makeover

Staff and residents at Guysfield Care Home in Letchworth have gone back in time with a retro makeover. Two communal rooms have been decorated in the style of the 40s and 50s and provide a nostalgic trip down memory lane for those who live in the home.Guysfield is a Victorian home benefiting from expansive communal areas. To create more intimate and comfortable spaces, staff and residents undertook the makeover project. Residents now enjoy a three-piece suite of vintage lounge furniture in the activities room as well as a six chair dining area which is now used for special occasions and family meals. Visits from family and friends are now cosy encounters beside the new fireplace.Caroline, Guysfield’s Activities Coordinator, scoured flea markets and vintage fairs to find the perfect furniture pieces, antiques and accessories needed to outfit the dining room and lounge with historic accuracy and charm.Guysfield Care Home provides residential and dementia care for up to 51 people and is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group.
