Caring Homes Residents Celebrate King Charles III's Coronation in Style
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, across the Caring Homes Group we celebrated the historic coronation of King Charles III with residents, families, friends and the Caring Homes team. Garden and street parties were held across the group, where residents braved the British weather to show their British spirit.
The coronation of King Charles III was a significant event in British history, with the last coronation taking place in 1953, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned. The coronation is a solemn ceremony where the new monarch is anointed, crowned, and invested with the insignia of royalty. The ceremony is steeped in tradition, with many symbolic gestures and rituals, and is a symbol of the continuity of the British monarchy.
Caring Homes Group's celebrations reflected the joy and excitement felt across the country as King Charles III ascended the throne. The homes were decorated with Union Jack flags and colourful bunting, with residents, their families and team members enjoying delicious food, music, and entertainment. Caring Homes is committed to providing high-quality care services that actively encourage socialisation and well-being, and our coronation celebrations were certainly a testament to this.
Blenheim Court Care Home in Liss, Hampshire, went above and beyond with their celebrations, holding pre-coronation festivities leading up to the big day, including a fancy-dress competition, balloon displays, and plenty of royalty-themed food and drinks. On the day of the coronation, a hearty BBQ, classic English puddings, and a glass of Pimm's were enjoyed, followed by afternoon tea and dancing in the home's bistro.
A fantastic day was had by all with the resident’s ambassador who joined in the fun commented, “You can always rely on Blenheim Court to put on a good show, it’s always well thought through and the results are amazing.” She continued to say, “It’s a lot of hard work to make an event like this happen and we’ve had such a great day, Thank you.”
Similar celebrations were enjoyed across other care homes in the group, including Parris Lawn in Lewes, East Sussex. The homes in-house Chef and catering team served a royal buffet feast to residents and team members which included scrumptious homemade cake and delicious Eton Mess.
