Castle View Nursing Home Shines at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show
Castle View Nursing Home showed its strong ties with the local community when team members represented the home at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show for the second year running.
Sam Koroma and the Three Bears
Over two days at the show, Helen, Hannah, Karen and Alison, represented Castle View at their stand and shared the home’s passion for high quality care and community engagement. The enthusiastic group encouraged show-goers to stop and chat – helped by tray of delicious cupcakes baked by Castle View’s chefs and offered to anyone who visited the stand.
The Castle View team ran a "Guess the Teddy's Age" competition for children at the show, with the ages of the bears selected by Home Manager, Sam Koroma, and revealed at the end of each day. Everybody loves a ‘guessing’ competition, especially when there’s the prospect of a cuddly teddy bear to adopt! Our three bears were sponsored by Star Services and Manx Mobility and they each found a new home with lucky winners Laya, Lily and Chloe, who were happy to collect their furry friends from Castle View.
Chocolate for Charity – an Edible Raffle Prize Raises £400
Adding to the excitement over the two days, a raffle was organised to support the Alzheimer's Society, Isle of Man – Castle View residents' chosen charity for the year. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the raffle raised an impressive £400 – a wonderful way to support a local charity that means a lot to many of Castle View’s residents. The lucky winner, Bobby, dropped into Castle View to collect his prize from Sam - a decadent chocolate hamper which was generously donated by Care Home Life.
Sam also had the pleasure of handing over money raised for the charity to Claire Cubberly from Alzheimer's Society, Isle of Man who said, "I was so excited to visit Castle View and collect all the money raised at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show. I love how the community comes together to support such a great cause. We are so thankful to Castle View."
Nurturing Strong Relationships within the Local Community
Looking back on the event, Sam particularly enjoyed getting out to talk to visitors at the show, many of whom have a special bond with the home. "It was uplifting to connect with families who’ve come into contact with Castle View for many different reasons” he said. “It reaffirms the positive impact we have on our residents' lives and our place in the community.”
Helen, added, “Being at the show was a lovely opportunity to catch up with families and friends past and present, old colleagues, and on occasion finally getting to meet the “voice” at the end of the phone!”
Their two days at The Royal Manx Agricultural Show were a resounding success for Castle View Nursing Home and the team’s community-focused spirit shone through. Ultimately, alongside its positive contribution to local initiatives, the home’s commitment to nurturing strong relationships with the community is an important way of enhancing the wellbeing of is residents – always the number one priority at Caring Homes.
