Celebrating International Women’s Day At Hillside Care Home
On March 8th, Hillside Care Home in Sudbury literally bloomed with joy as the team honoured the 24 wonderful female residents who grace the home. The day began with a floral tribute - two delicate roses, arranged in a vase that had been beautifully decorated by the wellbeing team, and presented to each individual in either the lounge area or in the residents’ bedrooms.
A Sweet-Scented Gesture to Start the Day
All the ladies were delighted to receive the roses. One resident said that it was lovely, kind gesture. “It was a very thoughtful thing to do” she added, “The roses smell and look beautiful, and they make me feel very happy. I’m going to enjoy looking at them in my room”.
The day unfolded with pampering sessions planned throughout the morning. Residents were treated to manicures that left their hands petal-soft, and the hairdresser worked her magic, bringing an extra dash of creativity to her styling to make everyone feel extra-special.
Although women were the focus of the day, Hillside’s male residents appreciated the look and scent of all the fresh flowers and were able to enjoy a haircut and a manicure if they chose to - and of course, teatime was very much a celebration for all.
An Indulgent Teatime Treat
And what’s a celebration without a bit of indulgence? Residents gathered to share a popular afternoon treat– warm, homemade scones with jam, cream and a lovely cup of tea.
The team at Hillside constantly acknowledge the life experience and individuality of every woman who resides there. Each resident is unique, and their varied stories and personalities bring texture to the vibrant community. International Women’s Day at Hillside was recognised with love, kindness and respect and was appreciated by all, including one resident who concluded, “It was a perfect day, I enjoyed every minute of it!”
