Christmas Presents at Castle View

6th January 2016
Residents received personalised Christmas gifts at Castle View Nursing Home thanks to the fundraising efforts of members of the care team.Castle View's Social Activities Team - Jeff Black, Christine Roberts and Pauline Davenport - deserve a special thank you for all their hard work throughout 2015, ensuring everyone in the home could be kept entertained and busy. This year alone they have raised over £1,000 for the residents' social activities fund. The team have been especially busy over the festive period - with trips to the Christmas Lights, Christmas Concerts at the local theatre, shopping trips and in house entertainment (including Carol Singing, the Crosby Silver Band and Manx National Dancers). Thanks to the continuous fundraising efforts of the activities team, every resident received a personal present on Christmas Day. Each gift was delivered with plenty of "ho ho hos" from our very own in house Santa Claus, Jeff, as well as Little Helper Pauline. The home is located on the beautiful Isle of Man - between the coastlines of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales - in the middle of the Irish Sea. The Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, nor is it part of the European Union; it is a self-governing British Crown Dependency with its own parliament, government and laws.Castle View cares for 66 residents, and can care for residents with dementia and physical nursing needs. The home is situated on the outskirts of Peel on the East side of the Island and has fabulous views of Peel Castle - situated on St Patrick's Isle.Peel Castle was originally a place of worship before becoming the fort of Magnus Barefoot - an 11th Century Viking King of Mann. The castle's curtain wall encircles the ruins of many buildings, which are testimony to the site's religious and secular importance in Manx history.
