Coming Together for a Knit and Natter at The Orchard

The Orchard, a luxury care home located in the heart of the community, has started a monthly knitting club that welcomes residents, relatives, friends, and members of the local community. The club, which takes place every last Tuesday of the month from 2:30 to 4:30pm, has been a big hit since it began in January 2023.

The knitting club is open to residents, family and friends as well as everyone in the local community. It's been popular with residents who have stayed at The Orchard for a short stay only through to ladies from the local church and community who join weekly. Attendees can enjoy refreshments, including hot drinks or a glass of wine, along with freshly baked cakes.

During the knitting sessions, the ladies have been creating beautiful blankets, hats, door decorations, and scarfs while sharing their knitting stories. It's heart-warming to hear the residents nattering away and bonding with the ladies, who have been talking about their stays with The Orchard and how they love coming back to events like this to see the staff and meet the residents.

The knitting club has been a wonderful opportunity for The Orchard's residents to interact with ladies outside the home and make new friends within the community. Participating in clubs like this can be incredibly beneficial for the residents' mental health, providing a sense of purpose, achievement, and social connection.
