A dance to the music of time at Laverstock
27th April 2016
The swinging Big Band sound of 50’s Rat Pack favourites was enough to get 90 year old Ruby Elsworth on her feet and dancing recently.A resident at Laverstock Care Centre, on London Road in Salisbury, Ruby was enjoying the music of entertainer Lee Knott so much that she started swaying to the music – no mean feat for someone who is usually in a wheelchair.Barry Pentelow, Activities Coordinator at Laverstock, said: “I noticed Ruby really enjoying the Rat Pack music and muted trumpet, moving in time to the beat in her chair. The sounds were obviously stirring some old memories and so I helped her to her feet and we had a little dance. It was a fabulous, happy moment.”Laverstock Care Centre provides residential, specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 80 residents in spacious, light and airy, purpose-built accommodation.
