Dementia Action Week at Blenheim Court Care Home
The residents and team at Blenheim Court Care Home have been raising awareness around dementia this week and showing their support to the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Action Week.
As part of the week friends and family were invited to join the home for a delicious afternoon tea with their residents and team in the bistro. The event was hosted by the wellbeing and hospitality team at the home, with traditional afternoon tea treats for everyone to enjoy including sandwiches, cakes, and refreshments.
The afternoon tea was put in place to raise awareness not only of the amazing work and support the charity offers, but to also share the different ways dementia can affect loved ones. It also gave everyone the opportunity to share their experiences in a safe environment.
There were leaflets and other materials available for all to read or to take away, everyone at the home is hoping that by helping people to understand the different forms dementia can take, it will help support them and their loved ones through their journey.
Dementia Action Week is Alzheimer's Society's biggest and longest running awareness campaign. Each year, they look to work with individuals and organisations throughout the UK to encourage people to ‘act on dementia’. They have a different theme each year and this year it is about ‘diagnosis’.
Blenheim Court Care Home is proud to be part of the only care home group to have their own unique award-winning dementia training ‘My World’ which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, in addition to addressing clinical aspects of care.
We understand that dementia is different for everyone, so the care our residents receive is too.
