Dorothy’s Enjoying Life at Laverstock
Sometimes deciding whether to move into a care home and then finding the right one to suit you is difficult and can be quite an emotional experience for both you and your family. Our teams are here to guide and help you every step of the way.
Dorothy has been living at Laverstock Care Centre in Salisbury for three years now. Although she was initially upset to give up her home in Bishopdown, upon moving in to Laverstock and experiencing what the home has to offer, she absolutely loves it here!
At Laverstock, there’s something for everybody, from arts and crafts to the hair salon and a packed schedule of events and activities including a knitting club and cinema club. There are various places to go and visit including Poole and Swanage, as well as the ancient city of Winchester. If residents prefer to spend one-on-one time with a member of the team, they can read the paper or pop to the shops. The Home has strong connections with the local community, many residents invite them to join in our activities at the Home or run their own sessions here.
Laverstock has 80 bedrooms, each with a beautifully appointed ensuite bathroom. Several of the rooms have balconies or provide access to the wonderfully landscaped gardens. It is a modern care home, situated in the historic city of Salisbury in Wiltshire.
Dorothy has two children and grandchildren and is a very sociable lady. She enjoys participating in activities at the home with her friends, including knitting club, bingo, scrabble and targetball! In the evening Dorothy likes her down time and loves watching Emmerdale, whilst eating her favourite food – chicken and chips!
Dorothy has made many friends since moving to Laverstock and vows her secret to a long life is “to be happy and make others happy with ‘funny banter’”, as she puts it!
