Ella enjoys plenty of attention at Mellish House

8th May 2014

The residents of Mellish House got to know a new furry friend this week as owner Theresa brought her ‘PAT’ dog Ella to the Suffolk home.

PAT stands for ‘Pets As Therapy’, which is a national charity that was founded in 1983 to provide therapeutic visits to hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other establishments from volunteers with their pet dogs and cats.

The residents had the opportunity to spend one to one time with Ella and benefit from many of the therapeutic qualities that come with canine companionship (and she was great fun to play with as well!)

Situated in the peaceful village of Great Cornard, Mellish House is a purpose built home providing residential care for up to 48 elderly people living with dementia.
