Energising January: Cotman House Residents Staying Fit And Fabulous
The residents at Cotman House Care Home are defying the winter blues by staying active and engaged through their popular "Keep Moving Club."
At Cotman House Care Home, we recognise the importance of physical wellbeing and have established a bi-weekly club that not only keeps our residents on their feet but also brings smiles and laughter to
their faces.
Activities at Our Care Home in Felixstowe
The home has its own fitness enthusiast and instructor, Luke, who visits every fortnight and brings an infectious enthusiasm for fitness that has transformed exercise routines into lively and enjoyable sessions.
Residents are not only breaking a sweat but also fostering a sense of camaraderie as they engage in various active games. Indoor bowling has become a favourite, with residents eagerly participating in friendly competitions that combine fun, and exercise and friendly competition!
Another activity we hold is Chair basketball. This is adapted to accommodate all abilities and has become another popular activity, promoting mobility and coordination.
"Physical activity is crucial for maintaining not just our residents' physical health, but also their mental and emotional wellbeing. The Keep Moving Club is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable, ensuring that everyone can participate and reap the benefits of staying active," says Care Home Manager, Kirsty Allen.
Our residents feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to engage in activities that not only keep them physically active but also provide a social outlet.
The "Keep Moving Club" has become a cornerstone of the care home's commitment to holistic wellbeing, emphasising the importance of staying active and connected. As the new year unfolds, residents are looking forward to many more spirited sessions, breaking stereotypes about age and activity. It proves that January can indeed be a month of vibrancy and movement.
