Entertainment at Laverstock Care Centre

The residents at Laverstock Care Centre have been enjoying a range of musical entertainment at the home over the last few weeks.

Following a range of requests from the residents for various styles of music the home have organised for various entertainers to come in and perform. Curly who is a singer and guitarist is a favourite with the residents and comes to the home regularly. Everyone sang along and clapped to his songs as he performed a range of classics from the 1940's to 1960's at a family day. With a family member commenting "such an enjoyable afternoon for our mum and the other residents".

This was followed by Amanda Parsons who came in to sing for a group of the residents in their West View Lounge, the residents got to hear her wonderful voice performing songs from the 1940's which the residents found "very entertaining!"

To vary the entertainment and as the residents enjoy listening to live piano music they were treated to a performance from Brian Budden who played a selection of classical music, as well as some sing-a-long songs from the musicals which got everyone involved. One resident commented "He is very talented".

The latest singer to perform at the home was Helen Emslie who had visited previously and was such a hit the residents asked if she could come back, where she performed a tribute to Karen Carpenter.

It is so lovely to see the residents enjoying all the music, their favourite songs or music from yesteryear can have a hugely beneficial effect on them and their wellbeing, while giving them the opportunity to reminisce.
