Flora and Fauna at Hawkhill

10th January 2018
At Hawkhill House in Mill Timber the residents have been enjoying some flower arranging sessions. There is a lot of evidence based research which shows how flowers and activities around them have a positive impact on elderly’s happiness, physical activity and creativity. You can see an immediate joy in the faces of the residents at Hawkhill House. The activity started with a discussion about types of flowers, the colours and the smells, everyone had an opinion with likes and dislikes, and sharing their favourites.Everyone helped decorate one big floral arrangement which was then followed with individual projects, for table centre pieces. The table arrangements are now in the dining room enjoyed by all other that visit and live at Hawkhill. Residents and staff have given positive comments, and the residents who made them were really proud to show off their skills. Activities like this provide our residents with a sense of purpose and it also gives them the opportunity to do something they enjoyed doing before they lived at Hawkhill House.[gallery link="file" size="medium" ids="23271,23270,23267,23272,23269,23268"]Hawkhill House provides specialist nursing and dementia care in a purpose built environment for up to 43 elderly people. If you would like to find out more about life at Hawkhill House and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5322 or hawkhill@CaringHomes.org.
