Gnome garden opens at Laverstock Care Centre

Laverstock Care Centre are proud to have recently opened their very first gnome garden! The garden provides a home to a variety of gnomes who are selected and looked after by residents. Residents are able to choose names for the gnomes and paint them if required.The garden is designed to be as interactive and visual as possible, with similarities to a mini village. As more and more gnomes are collected, the garden will expand to include different areas. Currently there are 20 gnomes living in the garden, but this will slowly increase over time as more are added.“The gnome garden has been designed with sensory input in mind” said Helen Pessell, Home Manager: “Our residents are able to move the gnomes around as and when they want and can paint them beforehand. It’s a bit of fun, which has turned out to be incredibly popular with our residents. We can’t wait to see the gnome village grow as more are added and to see the different designs our residents come up with.”“We provide a diverse and varied activities provision at Laverstock which includes creative aspects such as painting. This has been a particularly nice project for our residents as they have seen the journey from choosing a gnome, painting it and then placing it in the garden.”Laverstock Care Centre is located in the heart of the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury.
