Guysfield Celebrates 30 Years Of Caring Homes With A Party And Special Guest, ‘Magenta Slipperz’

25th June 2024

The Wellbeing Team at Guysfield were beyond excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Caring Homes and knew they needed to create an event that was memorable for families, friends, teams and most importantly, their residents.

Residents Have the Final Say in 30th Anniversary Celebration Plans

With so many things to organise and discuss, the Wellbeing Team dedicated their regular meeting to the event and got planning! They came up with lots of different options for food, entertainment, decorations and the structure of the day so when Wellbeing Lead, Zara, chaired the monthly meeting with Guysfield’s residents, she could present a range of ideas and residents could decide what they’d enjoy the most.

The popular vote was for buffet food and birthday party decorations on the special day, and everyone agreed the entertainer they’d love to welcome back would be ‘Magenta Slipperz’, as he’d had everyone in stiches throughout Valentine ’s Day.

Everyone Gets Involved in a Decorating Frenzy!

When the big day arrived, excitement filled Guysfield. All the amazing staff got together to help decorate the outside garden, the kitchen, the lounge and everywhere in-between, so that the home looked fit for celebration. There were streamers, bunting, balloons, and honeycomb decorations in a variety of bright colours. Resident Janet was very keen to help with the decorating and offered to tie balloons together in threes. Natalie the Wellbeing Co coordinator gladly accepted Janet’s help, and they had a lovely conversation all about how decorating really makes an event! Janet said, ‘I would do everything for the kids parties, I just loved it, all of it.’ Natalie commented, “It was such a privilege hearing all about Janet’s children’s birthday parties and her love for decorating”.

Magenta Slipperz Brings Music and Laughter

When 3pm rolled around it was time to get partying! Magenta Slipperz arrived and filled the atmosphere with joy and laughter. Again, he amazed everyone with not only his fabulous voice, but his comedy and stage presence. All the staff, residents and their families were up on their feet dancing the afternoon away. Resident Catharine couldn’t let Magenta Slipperz go and asked for a few more songs – which the appreciative audience was fortunate enough to receive! Margaret said “It’s fabulous! Did you see me dancing?’ when asked how she felt the performance was. Everyone was thirsty after an hour of singing their hearts out and dancing through the afternoon, so this was the perfect opportunity to head to the dining room where a selection of wines, prosecco, and soft drinks were being served alongside the incredible buffet.

Fabulous Food and a Day Full of Smiles

Everyone was so impressed by the selection of food provided - there truly was something for everyone. Salads, pastas, chicken, cheeses, sandwiches, pork pies, Indian cuisine, chocolates, cupcakes, cheesecake – and a big chocolate cake decorated to celebrate 30 years of Caring Homes. It’s safe to say that everyone indulged! Families were full of compliments on the wonderful day and how much they’d enjoyed it - and most importantly the Guysfield residents were full of smiles and so pleased with how their special day had gone.
