Happy 90th Birthday to The Queen from Laverstock Care Centre!

On Thursday 9th June Laverstock Care Centre in Salisbury held a street party to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday. The party was held outside the front of the home and staff, residents, families and visitors were lucky enough to have sunny weather for the entire afternoon.Tables were laid out in rows of three, with plenty of gazebos available providing shelter from the sun. There was endless bunting and in keeping with the patriotic theme, red, white and blue could be seen everywhere.Friends and families of residents at Laverstock were invited to join, along with carers and staff. A journalist from the Salisbury Journal arrived to take photographs and make everyone feel like a celebrity! The Mayor of Salisbury also kindly arrived for the afternoon and visited residents within the home.“This was a truly fantastic day” said Helen Pessell, Home Manager: “At Laverstock Care Centre, we have an ‘open door’ policy and always encourage friends and family members to visit our residents. It was fantastic to see so many friends and family for the day. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did our staff and visitors. A very Happy 90th Birthday to The Queen!”Everyone left the day full of delicious food and drink, with lots of sandwiches, cakes, jelly and cream, a glass (or two!) of shandy and ginger beer and of course, plenty of tea and coffee. The food and drink assisted everyone to have a truly marvellous time.The party included a raffle stall, card stall and a very large plant stall. Lots of nostalgic music was played throughout the day which all helped add to a fun, inclusive, enjoyable day.Laverstock Care Centre provides residential, specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 80 residents in the heart of the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury.
