Hawkhill House go Christmas shopping
23rd November 2016
A couple of the ladies from Hawkhill House in Milltimber, took a trip to Raemoir garden centre in Banchory this week. The ladies had decided they wanted to do some Christmas shopping before the rush begins, so we thought we would make an outing out of it. Shopping was an activity all of our residents enjoyed when they were younger and were able to get around a little bit easier, bringing this back into their lives helps them remain active and provides them with a way of staying in contact with the local community, connected to everyday life.Raemoir was the prefect choice as it is full of plants, flowers and now Christmas decorations! We began the day wandering around the Raemoir garden centre, the residents were all delighted with the wide variety of plants on display, which sparked off lots of discussion and enthusiastic plans were made for their own garden in the New Year. We also had a look at the Christmas decorations which were decorating the garden centre, the ladies loved posing for photos with them taking ideas back to the house for decorations they could make in their arts and crafts sessions. The day ended with refreshments in 'The Garden Restaurant and Raemoir Cafe' at the garden centre with a fine piece of cake and a cup of tea before heading back.Hawkhill House provides specialist nursing and dementia care in a purpose built environment for up to 43 elderly people. If you would like to find out more about life at Hawkhill House and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5322 or hawkhill@CaringHomes.org.
