Hydration week at Brooklyn House
To mark National Nutrition & Hydration week at Brooklyn House Nursing Home in Attleborough, the are team designed Tikki Bar to entice the residents to the culinary delights.
We took a few cardboard boxes and two of our ladies Caroline Powell and Brenda Sandford helped to cover them with brightly coloured crepe paper. The focus of the bar was to encourage drinking lots of fluids, the wellbeing team decided to promote healthy choices to all residents and staff by making a refreshing fruit punch..
We have been working with our new Clinical Lead Paul on a Hydration course delivered by North London University. Because we are a nursing home, keeping hydrated is of upmost importance especially when so many need assistance . We are going to try some new ideas with the residents to what works best.
Some of the benefits of making sure we stay properly hydrated include:
• Increases energy
• Relieves fatigue
• Improves brain function and concentration
• Helps prevent headaches
• Can help with weight loss.
• Flushes out toxins.
• Improves skin
• Maintains regularity.
