Independence Day at Mellish House
Country music, cowboy boots and good ol’ American food was the order of the day this week as Mellish House was transformed for an afternoon of celebration in honour of Independence Day.
For those who had visited America, it evoked some happy memories, whilst those who had never been enjoyed the chance to get in the spirit of the event by dressing up in the colourful costumes.
The celebration was just one example of a wide range of activities that form part of the recently launched Caring Homes ‘Living’ programme. The new initiative is a structured activities programme based around a ‘five a day’ approach of providing activities that always meet either social, emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical needs as part of the holistic program of care delivered at the home.
