Latham Lodge Carer receives 'Living in My World' Certificate
8th December 2016
Latham Lodge is proud to present a member of their care team, Carla Taylor with their ‘Living in My World’ dementia training certificate. As well as ongoing training in their particular field, every team member has an opportunity to complete Caring Homes unique 'Living in My World’ dementia training which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, as well as addressing clinical aspects of care.We believe everyone should have an awareness of dementia to recognise what life is like for those living with the condition and understand how loved ones can be affected and supported.Sylvia Morse-Carter, Home Manager said:
“Living in my World’ training means that those who complete this training have a better understanding of how and when to change the way we speak to our residents and how we can use gestures to help support those living with dementia. Supporting our residents with everyday tasks is just as important to them as it can have a positive impact on their wellbeing and confidence.”Caring Homes has also been commended for its commitment to training in November 2016 and honoured with the prestigious ‘Princess Royal Training’ Award.Whatever their needs, every resident at Latham Lodge is given appropriate care and stimulated to enjoy their life to the best of their abilities. Our residents living with dementia have every opportunity to continue with the daily activities that were such a formative part of their lives, and which make them feel fulfilled and happy. In a recent CQC inspection in which Latham Lodge was rated 'Good' overall, inspectors noted:
‘We observed that staff were kind, caring and friendly in their approaches to people’s care. There was a good rapport between staff and the people they supported with lots of smiles and laughter.'If you would like find out more about life at Latham Lodge please contact us on 0808 223 5519 or email [email protected].
