Latham Lodge Celebrates VE Day
The residents and team at Latham Lodge celebrated VE Day with musical entertainment by singer Charlotte Haines. The home was decorated patriotically in red, white and blue by the team at Latham Lodge.
The visiting entertainer sang some old wartime favourites in honour of VE Day, as well as a selection of songs from musicals – which went down really well with the residents. One of them – Edith loved the music and when it finished stated “I’m so sad to see her go, she was lovely, I wish she could have stayed longer.”
Using music as a form of therapy can help in multiple areas of the health and wellbeing of seniors, it can increase people’s motivation, and emotional support for staff and loved ones. As well as being a healthy outlet to express feelings and emotions.
Latham Lodge, rated as Good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), is in Purbrook, Portsmouth and offers comfortable living areas, as well as accessible outside space with seating areas.
