Laverstock Care Centre plant a tree in memory of the Queen
The residents and team at Laverstock Care Centre have planted a tree in honour of the Queen and her Green Canopy initiative.
Following the wishes of the Patron, His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to still get involved and plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.
The initiative was created to mark the year of her Platinum Jubilee and The Queen’s Green Canopy is proud to be creating a living legacy with over a million trees being planted so far and see the extension as a way to build on the legacy and serve as a lasting tribute to Her Majesty’s extraordinary service to her country and her people.
At Laverstock it was decided that we would plant a Eucalyptus tree outside the front of the home, it is drought tolerant once established and was a reason it was chosen due to current climate change issues, it also has sensory benefits too for our residents. Both visually from its unique colour and the smell of its leaves.
Everyone at the home is looking forward to seeing their new addition grow over time!
