Laverstock Care Centre welcomes local community for National Care Home Open Day
Laverstock Care Centre threw its doors open this Friday to host a vintage Victorian tea party in support of National Care Home Open Day (NCHOD).
The London Road home, part of the Caring Homes group, used the event as an opportunity to get to know the local community further through hosting the fun-filled event, with girls from St Edmunds School serving tea for the residents and help them decorate the fairy cakes in preparation for the event.
Live entertainment was provided by the ever-popular Jan & Eric on the Harmonica and Guitar, followed by Barry on the Piano, with several of the local community joining in the fun, including the ladies from St Mark’s Church and representatives from the local Parkinson’s Association.
Laverstock Manager Helen Pessell was thrilled with the turnout for the event:
‘Today was a great opportunity to give people a taste of life at Laverstock Care Centre and it was lovely to hear that everyone who came had a good time.
It is always nice to meet people from the local community, so I’m pleased that it was so well supported and would like to thanks everyone who took the time to attend.’
Located on the outskirts of Salisbury, Laverstock Care Centre is a purpose-built home that provides residential, specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 80 elderly ladies and gentlemen. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
