Residents from Laverstock Care Centre based in Salisbury where honoured to be invited to the annual Salisbury Remembrance Day Parade at Market Place and Guildhall Square on Friday 11th November. The Royal British Legion organised the parade, where after a two minute silence, Lieutenant General Sir Roderick Cordy-Simpson led the laying of wreaths on the city's war memorial. Activities coordinator Barry Pentelow and Senior Care Assistant Zara Poole joined Laverstock residents Ronald Raymond and Alfred Baker (101) at the important event to pay their respects. Later they gathered at the Royal British Legion for a cup of tea and biscuits to reflect on the moving event.Home Manager Helen Pessell said “Remembrance Day is always a landmark occasion for our home and the residents. We wanted to ensure we marked this with a trip for Ronald and Alfred to the parade and I know both gentleman thoroughly enjoyed the event. At Laverstock we also held the two minute silence at 11am as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives during the war and to honour our residents as some of them were in the war themselves. This week’s events have been very poignant and gave residents, relatives and staff the chance to remember those who gave their lives in World War One.”
