Lesley ‘spins a yarn’ for Laverstock Care Centre residents

3rd April 2014

The residents of Laverstock Care Centre enjoyed an educational visit from a Salisbury Museum representative recently, who delivered an informative talk about spinning wheels, fleeces and wool. The speaker, Lesley Ayres, also demonstrated the ancient art of spinning wool on the wheel itself, which was fascinating for those involved.

Lesley now plans to join the Laverstock Care Centre ‘Knitting Club’ and spin her wool amongst the home’s keen knitters. The club, which meets every Monday, has up to a dozen members who meet to knit, crochet and chat.

Situated on the outskirts of Salisbury, Laverstock Care Centre is a purpose-built home that provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 80 elderly ladies and gentlemen.
