Magic moments at Mellish
28th July 2017
Paul Pleasants surprised the residents at Mellish House in Sudbury with a magic show this week.Paul Pleasants is a regular to Mellish House providing magic and music for the residents. He particularly enjoys close up magic with everday items such as coins, cards and rope, which is something our residents thoroughly enjoy. Magic is a great way of communicating with the residents and really gets their attention, and Paul was great at reading their reactions to determine what he was going to do next. As the residents watched they were shocked and spent ages trying to work out how the tricks were done.Paul completed his set with a music show which consisted of 1950's songs such as 'Mack the Knife', 'Peggy Sue' and 'Jail House Rock'. There is always something for everyone to enjoy, music can soothe, stimulate and bring to mind long-forgotten memories, so listening to music from their youth sparks lots of conversation and gets them dancing and signing along. After all the excitement residents enjoyed tea and cakes.[gallery link="file" size="medium" ids="21161,21160,21159,21158,21157,21156,21155"]Mellish House provides specialist dementia care in a purpose built environment for up to 48 elderly people in Sudbury. If you would like to find out more about life at Mellish House and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5523 or [email protected]
