Making dreams come true at Laverstock
Barry Pentelow head of wellbeing at Laverstock Care Centre has gone the extra mile in trying to make a dream come true for one of the residents, who has always wanted to shake hands with His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The resident is extremely fond of the royal family and enjoys talking about them. Barry thought this would be an excellent opportunity to fulfill his dream by reaching out to the Prince of Wales himself and did so by letter.
Bearing in mind with the current pandemic Barry recognised that meeting the Prince of Wales would not be possible, therefore he hoped HRH might consider to make this gentleman’s dream come true by sending a written reply.
The resident got the reply he had been waiting for, HRH's Secretary Claudia Spence sent a letter to say that he was most grateful for taking the trouble to write to him and the Prince of Wales thanked the Laverstock team for sharing the resident's dream with him and hoped that he was in good health and high spirits while the pandemic continues. He sent his best and warmest wishes together with an enclosed photograph of himself.
On receiving the letter it put a huge smile on the resident's face and gave a great boost of self-esteem, he could also show and share this wonderful experience with his fellow residents and friends at the home for all to enjoy.
Barry endeavors to continue fulfilling where possible the many dreams and aspirations of the residents at Laverstock Care Centre.
