Mellish enters the Suffolk Care Home Olympics

The residents at Mellish House Care Home in Sudbury have entered The Suffolk Care Home Olympics 2018!Elatus Sports and Suffolk County Council have organised the Care Home Olympics, which is being funded by Sport England, as part of the Most Active County campaign to increase physical activity in Suffolk.The games are being delivered over 6 weeks from 9th January, with three different sports being delivered to the care homes which are competing. The in-house activity is delivered in blocks of 2 weeks per sport, with the competition taking place in the second week. There will be an additional 2 weeks of activity for the top 6 homes, creating a super finale. This provides all the benefits of competitive sport and physical activity for elderly people.By using adaptable and engaging equipment and as specialists in providing sporting activities for elderly and disabled people, Elatus Sports run the competition in an inclusive and adaptable manner, ensuring all care home residents can participate safely and enjoyably.The residents are enjoying this immensely and hope to make it into the final 6 homes!
