Mellish House celebrate bumper crop
The chefs at Mellish House were scouring their books for apple recipes this week following the news of a bumper crop from the home’s tree.
The residents planted the apple tree some seven years earlier and it had its best year yet, yielding over 200 apples. Resident Grace Tester (pictured) has been helping to maintain the tree and had the pleasure of picking the fruit and delivering them to the team of chefs, who are proposing a series of desserts including upside down apple cake, apple crumble and traditional apple pies.
Grace said ‘I’m so happy the work I’ve put in has helped and I’m looking forward to tasting the crumble now!’
Situated in the peaceful village of Great Cornard, Mellish House is a purpose built home providing residential care for up to 48 elderly people livin
