The Mellish House Care Home team were recently joined by special guests to mark a significant achievement in the Home's history. Alongside Home Manager Maekhala Allan was Sudbury Town Mayor, Jan Osborne, and South Suffolk MP, James Cartlidge who participated in the joyous celebration of Mellish House Care Home’s accreditation for excellence in dementia care.

Mellish House’s approach to dementia care has earned admiration from both residents and external bodies alike. To celebrate, the dementia care home team came together on National Care Home Open Day for a special occasion with their guests.
First up was a wonderful afternoon tea that was enjoyed by all. This was later followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the Mayor of Sudbury and South Suffolk MP. This plaque stands as a testament to Mellish House Care Home’s unwavering commitment to excellence in dementia care. Not only that, it also serves as a proud symbol of community recognition and support.
The Mayor of Sudbury, Jan Osborne, said: “It was a real pleasure to celebrate Mellish House and the staff with their accreditation for their care and approach to looking after their residents. It was so clear that all the staff have so much compassion and care for the people they look after. The Home was beautiful and welcoming. Well done to all the team and their managers.”
Upon receiving the accreditation and bouquet of flowers, Maekhala expressed her gratitude and pride with a speech: "We are thrilled to receive this accreditation of Excellence in Dementia Care.
“It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, from the receptionists who warmly greet our residents to the chefs who create nutritious and appetising meals – and, of course, our kind and compassionate carers.
“Our commitment to delivering person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition inspires us to continue raising the bar in dementia care."
