Mello Cello at Whittington House
7th November 2018
Whittington House nursing home in Cheltenham welcomed Corrine who entertained us with her masterful Cello playing. The residents eagerly assembled on the two floors she would be performing on to ensure they got a good seat, to listen to her play. The residents loved the tone of the cello and were amazed that Corrine played such a wide range of music from classical, ballads, hymns and even modern artists like Ed Sheeran! The beautiful sound of the cello filled the home with a sense of peace and uplifted everyone’s spirits. The residents who were musicians were transfixed by Corrine’s ability and they chatted to her about their memories of music.Corinne is passionate about bringing live music to people in care homes and hospices, and initiated the ESO Care Homes and Hospices programme in 2007. She first became interested in playing when she was only three years old and was taken to a concert where she fell in love with the cello. Corrine’s Cello is 188 years old and had recently been restored and she regaled us all with tales of the music she was playing and her passion for her instrument.Music therapy has the power to strike any emotion, or change your mood.
