National Care Home Open Week and My World Rocks at Parris Lawn
At Parris Lawn Care Home in Lewes we have been celebrating National Care Home Open Week, a national event hosted by Championing Social Care with our My World Rocks project.
Its purpose is to connect care homes with their local communities, challenge misconceptions about care and remind everyone that the unique individuals who live in care homes are supported by dedicated and professional caring teams.
We have asked groups and individuals, to get involved in our project by painting rocks with pictures or phrases that are close to their hearts. Ringmer School Art Club have already donated with a few from our local Ringmer community as well! We are so pleased with the pick up already and cant wait to see what the rest of the summer will bring!
Many of our residents at Parris Lawn love art and craft sessions and are really enjoying the input from others outside the home. On Monday we will be creating our rocks to add to the collection which they are really looking forward to, it is giving them a sense of the wider community that they are part of.
This will be running over the whole of the summer and we hope to be able to open the garden to the community when we are able to for everyone to see the lovely creations.
