National Care Home Open Week and My World Rocks Project at Homefield Grange
The residents and team at Homefield Grange Care Home have been celebrating National Care Home Open Week, a national event hosted by Championing Social Care by starting our My World Rocks project which will be running all summer.
Its purpose is to connect care homes with their local communities, challenge misconceptions about care and remind everyone that the unique individuals who live in care homes are supported by dedicated and professional caring teams.
Everyone was excited to get in involved with our My World Rocks project so the team ordered items from Hobbycraft and set up an activity session for our residents and care team to start our very own rock garden. They enjoyed painting the stones with patterns and pictures of things that mattered to them. There are some beautiful stones so far and we can't wait for this to grow as we have reached out to the local community, who can get creative and place their rock in our garden to add to our collection.
This will be running over the whole of the summer and we hope to be able to open the garden to the community when we are able to for everyone to see the lovely creations.
The home then went one step further and the residents enjoyed some baking where you guessed it they made some Rock Cakes - keeping the theme running. The cakes looked delicious and tasted just as good.
