No strings brass band at Whittington

To commemorate Armistice Day Whittington House nursing home in Cheltenham welcomed Gloucester Brass Band for an afternoon of music.The 13 piece band kindly played 2 slots on different floors which meant more residents, relatives and staff were able to enjoy the entertainment. A wonderful wide range of music was played from traditional big band to timeless classics, even a few Christmas carols were thrown into the mix! Everyone had smiles on their faces as they were singing clapping and generally having a really good time. An activity like this not only brings back memories which are often shared for days afterwards, it also lifts the mood making us all feel uplifted.A relative whose mother had just arrived was so impressed and said how fortunate the residents were to have such a wonderful activity brought in to entertain them.Gloucester Brass was formed in 1992 from a small nucleus of experienced players joining with some enthusiastic learners of various ages. It has grown steadily, now numbering over 30 players, ranging from 13 to 80+ years of age.
