Non-baked Eton Mess Cheesecake at Hawkhill House
Overtime a person with dementia may not be as interested in food anymore due to some sensory changes in their life. It is for this reason at Hawkhill House Nursing Home in Milltimber we always try to incorporate food-based activities in our weekly schedules.
The familiar aroma of cake being baked can bring back special memories. To be involved in making it encourages participation, physical movement, creativity, socialisation and can foster a sense of accomplishment.
Today residents and the care team created a Non-baked Eton Mess Cheesecake! You can see their enjoyment crushing the biscuit, mixing the cheesecake mix and topping off with strawberries. The end result was a delicious dessert to have with a cup of tea or coffee, thoroughly enjoyed by all and sealing the accomplishment of our ladies!
Our food based activities this month included our Eton Mess Cheesecake, outdoor dining, ice cream parties, non baked strawberry trifle and afternoon tea parties. I wonder what next month will bring?
