Old blue eyes visits Hillside
7th October 2016
Hillside House in Sudbury were surprised with a performance by Old blue eyes this week. The residents at Hillside spent an afternoon reminiscing with Frank Sinatra music and songs he sung through the years such as 'My Way, 'Fly me to the moon', 'I've got you under my skin' and 'New York New York'. Some of the ladies and gentlemen at Hillside were big fans of Frank Sinatra when they were younger, and loved having him dancing and singing around the home.Music plays an important role in our everyday lives and can be exciting, calming, happy or sad, stirring memories helping us to express feelings and to communicate with others. The power of music, especially singing, to unlock memories and kickstart the grey matter is an increasingly key feature of care. It really lifts the mood of the residents, providing reminiscence of their younger years. Some of the residents got up and danced with the care team, whilst others reveled dancing in their chairs, singing and clapping along. Irene can be seen thoroughly enjoying being serenaded in the photo, and all residents enjoyed their musical afternoon of bringing back the memories of the good old days.Thank you for a fantastic afternoon, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!Hillside provides residential care for up to 44 elderly people. Located in Sudbury in Suffolk, we also benefit from a close working relationship with our sister home, Mellish House, located next door. Mellish House provides specialist residential support for people living with dementia. Our two homes provide a continuous care pathway offering elderly residents, their families and loved ones, the peace of mind afforded by knowing that changing care needs can be catered for at a single location. For more details or to book an appointment to meet Debbie and her team, please call 0808 223 5511 or click here to send an email.
